Ohnishi: 「ラジオ英会話 ハートでつかめ 英語の極意」講師の大西泰斗です。さー今日は金曜復習会、頑張っていきましょう。
Roza: Hey, everyone. Thanks for joining us again. This is lesson 100!
David: One hundred! Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Roza: Yay!
David: Woo-hoo!
Roza: Akino Roza here.
David: And I’m David Evans
Ohnishi: それでは、早速始めていきましょう。
Listening Challenge!
Monday
Roza&David: Listening Challenge!
David: Okay, let’s review this week’s dialogues.
Roza: Listen to the questions and pick which one of the three options is the correct answer.
David: Let’s start with Monday’s dialog.
Roza: What did the doctor advise the man to do? What did the doctor advise the man to do?
🅐 Eat fewer sweets.
🅑 Go to the gym more.
Or 🅒 Keep more ice cream in the freezer.
Here we go.
Yoshi: Doctor, I’ve lost five kilos since I started going to the gym.
Doctor: That’s good news. But you’re not in the clear yet.
Yoshi: What’s the problem?
Doctor: It’s your blood sugar. It’s still too high. Do you eat a lot of sweets?
Yoshi: Well, just a little ice cream after dinner.
Doctor: You have to cut down on the sweets.
Yoshi: But I’m going to the gym to burn it off.
Doctor: Good. Keep that up. But that’s not enough. Cut the ice cream out too.
Yoshi: OK.

Tuesday
David: All right, let’s move on to Tuesday’s dialogue. Here’s the question. Which of the following is true? Which of the following is true?
🅐 Kelly’s parents didn’t listen to Ryan’s songs.
🅑 Ryan stopped singing live.
🅒 Ryan’s voice has changed.
Listen up.
Kelly: I’m so excited to welcome a legendary singer today. His name is…Ryan L. Richie. Ryan, welcome!
Ryan: Hi, Kelly. Great to be here.
Kelly: Ryan, my parents used to listen to your songs all the time.
Ryan: Did they? That makes me feel good.
Kelly: You had many hits in the 1980s. And you’re still performing live now.
Ryan: Well, I’m not the singer I used to be. My voice is lower.
Kelly: That’s only natural. But I’ve watched some of your recent videos. They’re great!
Ryan: Thank you, Kelly.

Wednesday
Roza: Next, Wednesday’s dialogue. Here’s the question. What was found in the time capsule? What was found in the time capsule?
🅐 A smartphone charger.
🅑 A letter in Japanese.
Or 🅒 A picture of an American woman.
Listen carefully.
Peacock: Aki, they found this in the time capsule.
Aki: It looks like a smartphone.
Peacock: Strange, eh? There were no smartphones in 1865. They also found this letter with it. It’s in Japanese. Can you read it?
Aki: Yes, I should be able to read it. Mmm…it’s written in old-fashioned Japanese.
Peacock: What does it say?
Aki: Something about…an American woman.
Peacock: Who wrote it?
Aki: I think it says “Hashimura Kinzo.”
Peacock: Do you know who that is?
Aki: I have no idea.

Thursday
David: OK, let’s listen to Thursday’s dialogue, and first, let’s check the question. What is the problem with Renji’s report? What is the problem with Renji’s report?
🅐 It’s too long.
🅑 He used an AI program for it.
Or 🅒 He wrote a report on the wrong topic.
Here we go.
Aoi: So, Renji, did you finish your report on the Industrial Revolution?
Renji: Yes, here it is. It’s 25 pages.
Aoi: Hmm…wait a minute, this doesn’t sound like your writing.
Renji: Well, I used an Al program. It helped a lot.
Aoi: Yeah, I’ll bet. You’ll have to rewrite it. You’re not supposed to use Al programs for school reports. The school says that’s cheating.
Renji: What should I do, then?
Aoi: You may have to start from the beginning. This time, use your own words.
Renji: OK.
