Hi, everyone! It’s Noelia here.
If you listen to Radio Eikaiwa, you already know the Listening Challenge, right?
Well, this is my original Noelia-style version, inspired by that segment.
I’ve gathered this week’s four Noelia original dialogues into one audio for your weekend review.
It’s the perfect way to wrap up your week—so grab your headphones, relax, and let’s review together.

Are you ready? Let’s get started.

Let’s begin with Monday’s dialogue.
Here’s the question.

Does George tell Laura he has forgotten how to solve math problems?
Does George tell Laura he has forgotten how to solve math problems?

A. No, it all came back to him right away.
B. Yes, he can’t remember any.
C. No, he doesn’t want to talk about them.

Let’s listen.

Laura: Dad, are you still up? It’s almost ten.
George: Yeah, just finishing my tea. What’s going on?
Laura: Well… hey, can I ask you something? My son asked me to help him with his math homework, but it’s way over my head. Do you think you could take a quick look?
George: Sure, let me see it. What kind of problem is it?
Laura: Thanks, Dad. It’s something about quadratic functions or whatever.
George: Oh, those. I used to teach that stuff back in the day. Let’s see what’s confusing him.
Laura: You still remember all that? I can’t even read the symbols anymore.
George: Some things you never forget. Tell him to bring it over—I’ll take a look.

All right, let’s go over the question again.

Does George tell Laura he has forgotten how to solve math problems?

A. No, it all came back to him right away.
B. Yes, he can’t remember any.
C. No, he doesn’t want to talk about them.

The answer is—

A. No, it all came back to him right away.

George says, “Oh, those. I used to teach that stuff back in the day.”
That line shows he not only remembers it but even used to teach it. He sounds confident and calm, not confused.
This tells us that some skills, once learned deeply, really do stay with us—just like language learning!
If you caught that nuance, great job keeping your ears sharp!

Now, let’s move on to another dialogue.
Here’s the question.

Which of the following is true?
Which of the following is true?

A. Katie has already talked Ethan into joining the project.
B. Hannah talked over Ethan’s suggestion and ignored it.
C. Ethan agreed to speak with Katie sometime soon.

Listen carefully.

Hannah: The project’s still missing a leader, and the deadline’s getting closer.
Ethan: What about Katie? She’s got the experience for it.
Hannah: I already talked to her, but she seemed… hesitant. Said she’s not confident enough.
Ethan: Really? That’s too bad—she’d be perfect for it.
Hannah: I know. Could you maybe talk to her? She listens to you way more than she does to me.
Ethan: You know, I’m not Katie’s boss, so I can’t exactly order her to take charge of the project. But I’ll have a word with her—maybe I can persuade her. I’ve always been pretty good at convincing people.
Hannah: Thanks, Ethan. Seriously, that’d help a lot.
Ethan: No problem. If I can get her on board, we might just save this project.

Let’s check that question again.

Which of the following is true?

A. Katie has already talked Ethan into joining the project.
B. Hannah talked over Ethan’s suggestion and ignored it.
C. Ethan agreed to speak with Katie sometime soon.

The answer is—

C. Ethan agreed to speak with Katie sometime soon.

Ethan says, “I’ll have a word with her—maybe I can persuade her.”
That clearly shows his willingness to help, even though he’s not her boss. He’s planning to talk to her soon.
This line also shows natural teamwork language—phrases like “I’ll have a word with her” sound polite yet proactive.
Nice listening if you caught that subtle intention!

Q3|Wednesday

水曜日のチャレンジに進みましょう。答えを考える前に、まずは音の流れをしっかり聞き取り、どんな状況なのかをつかんでみてくださいね。

Next up, another story to challenge your listening.
Here’s the question.

What made Mia remember something from her childhood?
What made Mia remember something from her childhood?

A. Ethan was fixing the old bike in the shed.
B. Mia was cleaning off the dirt after falling.
C. Her dad brushed off the idea of teaching her to ride.

Listen carefully.

Ethan: You’re covered in mud, Mia. What on earth happened?
Mia: Don’t start. I tried riding your old bike—you know, the one sitting in the shed for years.
Ethan: Wait, seriously? That thing’s practically a museum piece.
Mia: Yeah, well, I figured I’d give it a shot. I barely made it to the end of the driveway before wiping out. Twice.
Ethan: You? Falling off a bike? I wish I’d seen that.
Mia: Ha-ha, very funny. Anyway, as I was brushing off the dirt, something kind of hit me.
Ethan: Oh yeah? What’s that?
Mia: When I was little, my dad taught me to ride a bicycle. I took spill after spill, but he instructed me to pick myself up and get back on every single time. I’d say that ended up being the most important lesson I ever learned.
Ethan: Sounds like you just relearned it today.
Mia: Guess I did. Except now my back’s the one doing the learning.

Let’s go over that question again.

What made Mia remember something from her childhood?

A. Ethan was fixing the old bike in the shed.
B. Mia was cleaning off the dirt after falling.
C. Her dad brushed off the idea of teaching her to ride.

The answer is—

答え

B. Mia was cleaning off the dirt after falling.

She says, “As I was brushing off the dirt, something kind of hit me.”
That moment triggers her memory of learning to ride a bike with her father’s encouragement.
It’s a great example of how physical experiences—like movement, touch, and emotion—can bring back strong memories.
If you followed that connection, excellent work—you’re not just hearing English, you’re feeling it!

Q4|Thursday

今週最後のチャレンジです。ここまでの流れを思い出しながら、英語のテンポと意味のつながりを意識して聞いてみましょう。

And finally, another chance to test your listening with a friendly conversation.
Here’s the question.

Did Ryan stay tense after Mark showed him around?
Did Ryan stay tense after Mark showed him around?

A. Yes, he couldn’t ease up.
B. No, he said it wasn’t relaxing.
C. No, he felt right at home.

Listen carefully.

Ryan: Wow, Emma, I didn’t expect Mark to give me the grand tour the second I walked in.
Emma: (laughs) Oh, yeah. He does that with everyone.
Ryan: Honestly, it kind of put me at ease, you know? Like I could just relax right away.
Emma: That’s the idea. My husband always gives guests a quick tour when they arrive. It indicates that he wants them to feel at home, and it also shows them where the bathroom is.
Ryan: Practical and thoughtful. I like that.
Emma: He says it saves people from awkwardly asking later.
Ryan: (laughs) Smart man. The place looks amazing, by the way.
Emma: Thanks. I’ll tell him you said that—he’ll be grinning all night.

Let’s check that one again.

Did Ryan stay tense after Mark showed him around?

A. Yes, he couldn’t ease up.
B. No, he said it wasn’t relaxing.
C. No, he felt right at home.

The answer is—

答え
クリックすると答えが出ます。

C. No, he felt right at home.

Ryan says, “Honestly, it kind of put me at ease, you know? Like I could just relax right away.”
That expression, “put me at ease,” is key—it means he felt comfortable and welcome.
It’s also a wonderful phrase to remember for daily use, like when you want to thank someone who made you comfortable.
If you caught that natural tone, great job—you’re developing real listening sensitivity!

And that’s a wrap for this week’s Noelia’s Listening Challenge!
How did you do?
Even if you didn’t get every answer right, what matters most is that you kept listening, thinking, and staying curious.
Every time you train your ears, you’re also building your instinct for natural English rhythm and tone.
So give yourself some credit—you’ve done amazing this week.
Next week, we’ll meet new voices, new expressions, and fresh surprises.
Until then, stay motivated, keep practicing, and remember—your English grows every time you listen with heart.
This is Noelia, saying, “Great work this week, and see you in the next challenge!”
